How it started
Our Story
Yashara began the way most good ideas do — with a problem and a passion. During travels through Malaysia, Thailand, and Bali, our founder discovered extraordinary craftspeople whose work was impossible to find outside their home country.
A weaver in Kelantan, Malaysia, creating silk scarves using a technique that takes years to master. A family farm in Sarawak harvesting the finest black pepper in the world. A potter in Chiang Mai throwing clay vessels that had been made the same way for five generations.
The question was simple: why couldn't people in the UK, Europe, or North America access these things? The answer was logistics, language, and trust. We decided to solve all three.
Yashara was incorporated to do exactly that. We visit our suppliers in person, we pay promptly and fairly, and we handle all the import logistics so they don't have to. In return, we get first access to products that simply don't exist anywhere else.
The name Yashara comes from the Sanskrit word for "glory" and "the right path" — values we try to live up to with every order we send.
What's next
We're always on the ground, building new supplier relationships and discovering products that deserve a wider audience. If you'd like to hear about new arrivals before anyone else, subscribe to our newsletter — we send it sparingly, and only when something genuinely good is available.
